Who Writes this?

Shane Waggoner teaches humanities in the northeast but his wellsprings are in Texas. He’s not a cowboy, but he thinks he could have been a good one. His parents named him ‘Shane‘ after the Western movie. And his last name has a story to tell: England used to recruit convicts to drive horse-drawn freight wagons up and down the long and perilous route between London and Edinburgh. Those men were called waggoners, ancestors of modern day truck drivers. Obviously, this noble heritage imbues Shane Waggoner and his writing with badassness.

About Shane:

He teaches philosophy and humanities at Albertus Magnus College, in New Haven, CT.

One of his dissertation advisers in the Department of History of Consciousness at UC Santa Cruz was Angela Davis. She once studied with Adorno.

After graduating, Shane was Visiting Assistant professor of Religious Studies at Yale for one year.

Shane plays basketball and tries to write alt country songs but kind of sucks at it.

This blog is a little like a scrapbook that Shane uses for what amount to very private purposes, such as writing a book about Adorno’s philosophy of dwelling.

Shane owns a 932 square foot ranch house built in 1954 and loves it.

  1. Hey there, stumbled upon your blog whilst doing final corrections to my MFA exegesis – needed to check a footnote from Vidler’s Warped Space. I like your subject. alison http://www.alisonbennett.com.au

  2. Holy crap, I hope all five of my readers go straight to Alison Bennet’s website and check out her amazing work. Really, Allison, that’s amazing stuff. I’m toying with editing a volume on dwelling in philosophy and literature, and if I do I’d like to talk to you about incorporating some of your images. Keep it up!
